FEMALE VETERAN FORUM - NOVEMBER 2025
As part of RSL Victoria’s Governance Review and Organisational Transformation Project, they are committed to greater engagement and support of female veterans and their families across the state.
Earlier this year, RSL Victoria received grant funding from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) to support this important work. As part of this work, RSL Victoria will be hosting a series of Female Veteran Forums.
These forums will:
- Provide a safe space for female veterans to share their experiences
- Help us understand what we are currently doing well; and
- Identify opportunities for improvement in how we support and engage female veterans.
All sessions will be facilitated by a female moderator and attended by a wellbeing officer.
Insights from the forums will be shared with our Female Reference Group, helping to shape future programs, services, and engagement strategies at RSL Victoria.
These forums are just the first stage of a broader ongoing consultation. We will be holding similar sessions in the future ensuring that all female veterans have a chance to be heard.

Open Arms regularly holds online forums, and courses throughout the year.
Delivered by SANE Australia, “Shoulder to Shoulder” offers two forums—one for veterans, and one for families and carers—created to offer peer-led, anonymous spaces to connect and be supported.
Co-designed with the veteran community and trauma experts, both forums are moderated by mental health professionals, accessible 24/7 on any device, and provide connection, resources and peer support from people who ‘get it’.
The Shoulder to Shoulder forums bridge the gap between support systems and enable people to access the right level of care when needed. The service model is one grounded in compassion and understanding that people have unique and individual experiences, reflecting a commitment to lived experience through a co-design process.
