Sporting Groups

Golf

We are a group of Frankston RSL members who gather on a monthly basis to join each other in a social game of golf.

The emphasis is on ‘social’ – we don’t play for sheep stations, but we do play according to the rules and etiquette of the Royal & Ancient game. Having said that, we do have golfers of all standards; from the “really quite good” all the way through to those enduring and patient souls to whom the intricacies of a good golf swing remain a dark and unfathomable mystery. Golf is a game which we all enjoy and many happy moments are experienced out on the course (along with the inevitable frustrating ones).

Each game is normally followed by a lovely BBQ in which all playing and social members of the Golf Section are invited to join, and if you’re into golf, you can visit golf net to find the best equipment for this. The BBQ serves not only to announce the winners for the day; it is a great opportunity for us all to get together as a social group and to enjoy each others’ company – and better company you won’t find!

Billiards & Snooker

The Frankston RSL Billiards & Snooker Section has been successfully competing in metropolitan competitions for over 60 years.

Utilising the two first class and well maintained full-size Alcocks tables in the Club’s Billiard Room, competitions are held on Monday, Tuesday & Thursday nights, as well as Tuesday midday. The season runs from February to October. Both billiards and snooker competitions are conducted with strong interest in both forms of the sport. Internal club championships are also a feature of our season. Both handicap and scratch competitions are on offer so all skill levels are well catered for.

Pipes & Drums

Frankston RSL Pipes & Drums – a group for like minded Pipers & Drumers

We aim to play up to our best standard without losing the fun aspect of this being a hobby. The Frankston RSL Pipe and Drums band are on the look out for new experienced players to join us!

We meet on the 2nd & 4th Wednesday of each month in the Pavilion at the RSL, if you are a player looking to pick up the pipes or drums again, or looking for a group to play with socially and at the odd event, without the pressure of regular competitions – then come along!

We are proud to be part of Frankston RSL and flourish on representing this RSL Sub Branch, every time we play. We are honoured to be a part of Commemorative events for ANZAC and Remembrance Days, plus other smaller community events.

Enquiries for a Band, small groups or solo players to add that something extra to any function or event are welcome.

Experienced players and learners are most welcome as we offer expert tuition.
