Sporting Groups

We are a group of Frankston RSL members who gather on a monthly basis to join each other in a social game of golf.

The emphasis is on ‘social’ – we don’t play for sheep stations, but we do play according to the rules and etiquette of the Royal & Ancient game. Having said that, we do have golfers of all standards; from the “really quite good” all the way through to those enduring and patient souls to whom the intricacies of a good golf swing remain a dark and unfathomable mystery. Golf is a game which we all enjoy and many happy moments are experienced out on the course (along with the inevitable frustrating ones).

Each game is normally followed by a lovely BBQ in which all playing and social members of the Golf Section are invited to join, and if you’re into golf, you can visit golf net to find the best equipment for this. The BBQ serves not only to announce the winners for the day; it is a great opportunity for us all to get together as a social group and to enjoy each others’ company – and better company you won’t find!

Billiards & Snooker

The Frankston RSL Billiards & Snooker Section has been successfully competing in metropolitan competitions for over 60 years.

Utilising the two first class and well maintained full-size Alcocks tables in the Club’s Billiard Room, competitions are held on Monday, Tuesday & Thursday nights, as well as Tuesday midday. The season runs from February to October. Both billiards and snooker competitions are conducted with strong interest in both forms of the sport. Internal club championships are also a feature of our season. Both handicap and scratch competitions are on offer so all skill levels are well catered for.

Pipes & Drums

Mobile: 0430 471 431

Frankston RSL Pipes & Drums is proud to be part of the Frankston Sub Branch of the Returned Services League. The band was formed, from the Frankston City Pipe Band, in 1994 and proudly wears the MacGregor tartan.

Frankston is some 50km south of the City of Melbourne on the shores of Port Phillip and is the Gateway to the Mornington Peninsula.

The band is active in playing for community functions throughout the Mornington Peninsula and beyond. A major annual event for the band is, of course, ANZAC Day when it plays for RSL clubs across the Peninsula. Remembrance Day is also a major event for the band.

Our philosophy is to play good music, and play it well, to provide enjoyment, for both ourselves, and our audience. Part of that enjoyment is the satisfaction of playing to the best standard we can but without losing the fun of our hobby.

Follow the link below to see our band in action.

We can provide a splash of colour and tradition to any function or event and can supply a Band, small groups or solo players to add that something extra to a small, or large, occasion.
Please direct all enquiries to the Band Secretary details below.

The band is in a rebuilding phase and will welcome interest from experienced players who would like to play their pipes, or drum, in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.
We practice on Wednesday evenings in the Pavilion at Frankston RSL, Cranbourne Road, Frankston.
Learners are also welcome as we do provide tuition.

It’s not all hard work and no play as we enjoy both social activities and fund raising too.
